Key takeaways

  • These two tools sit at opposite ends of the market: 0 EUR for a single snapshot against 75 EUR excl. VAT a month for repeated daily measurement.
  • The Grader does not ask for your URL and tracks nothing over time. Meteoria queries each prompt daily with 15 to 30 passes.
  • Meteoria sets no limit on projects or brands, which makes it unbeatable for an agency portfolio.
  • Between the two sits a 29 EUR a month band for weekly tracking, which I describe openly since I sell a product there.

I co-founded Cockpyt AI, a tool that occupies the middle ground between these two products. You are therefore reading a comparison written by a market participant, and I have put my own tool in the table rather than pretending it does not exist. The main verdict stays between HubSpot and Meteoria, and I name the cases where each wins, including against me.

These two tools regularly appear side by side in GEO comparisons. That is misleading: one is a free diagnostic with no history, the other a daily measurement platform from 75 EUR excl. VAT a month. They do not answer the same question.

HubSpot AEO Grader or Meteoria: which should you choose?

Choose the Grader if you are new to the subject, if you want to place your brand without commitment, or if you are preparing a client meeting and need a number in three minutes. It costs nothing and it reads sentiment better than many paid tools.

Choose Meteoria if you manage a portfolio of brands, if your reporting rests on the movement of individual prompts, or if you sell online and want to track ChatGPT product carousels. At that level of demand, no free tool holds up.

One thing is certain either way: neither guarantees a citation. HubSpot states it on its own page, its recommendations are AI-generated and not human-verified.

Two tools at opposite ends of the market

The phrase “GEO tool” covers products with almost nothing in common. These two demonstrate it better than any twenty-row comparison table.

The Grader produces one analysis, once, with no history, no account and no look at your site. Meteoria produces roughly 90 readings per prompt per month across three engines queried daily, with 15 to 30 passes to stabilise each measurement.

Three axes genuinely separate the tools in this market, and conflating them leads to bad purchases.

  • Frequency determines your responsiveness. One-off at HubSpot, daily at Meteoria.
  • Number of passes determines the reliability of each measurement. This is Meteoria’s strength, and it states it openly.
  • Access method determines what you observe. Meteoria stands behind interface automation, which shows what your customer sees but makes it harder to guarantee identical conditions from one reading to the next.

That last line is worth understanding before choosing. An interface measurement reflects the real display, an API measurement guarantees constant conditions. Neither approach is complete, and the debate between the two camps is the real technical question in this market.

What the Grader does better

Sentiment and brand archetype. The report breaks down general, contextual and source-based sentiment, assigns a category role among leader, challenger or niche player, and an archetype among innovator, disruptor or traditionalist. That is positioning material, not presence measurement.

Speed and cost. Three minutes, zero euros, an email address for the full report. No paid platform matches that effort-to-information ratio for a first assessment.

Analysing a competitor with no setup. HubSpot confirms the tool accepts any brand. Running three competitors in ten minutes is impossible with a tracking platform, which requires creating projects.

What Meteoria does better

Unlimited projects and brands. Seats, projects, brands and countries have no cap on any plan. For an agency with twelve clients, that single point settles the question before any methodology discussion.

Volume and statistical robustness. Daily querying with 15 to 30 passes produces a question-by-question reading that no weekly single-pass measurement can match, mine included. If you steer at the individual prompt level, that is what you are buying.

Modules missing elsewhere. Sentiment, ChatGPT product carousels, a native Reddit portal, AI crawler log analysis. An online retailer wanting to know whether their products surface in purchase recommendations has no equivalent.

Traction. More than 1,000 business customers, with references including CDiscount and La Poste. When a tool needs management sign-off, that argument counts.

The gap between 0 and 75 EUR: what sits in the middle

Let me be direct: this section is about my own tool, and you should read it with appropriate scepticism. It exists because the gap between these two products is real and many readers sit inside it.

A freelancer, a small business or a consultant with two or three clients has outgrown what a free tool can do, without needing 90 monthly readings per prompt. What they lack is a dated history and an action plan, not measurement volume.

Cockpyt AI occupies that band at 29 EUR excl. VAT a month annually, with 15 questions, all three AI engines included at no surcharge, weekly measurement, and a monthly GEO audit covering technical site analysis, 10 questions tested under several phrasings, AI-sourced traffic via Google Analytics 4 and Search Console, a prioritised action plan and a 33-point checklist.

The limits, since they need saying: three engines only, no AI Overviews, no Claude, no sentiment analysis, a five-project cap, and one pass per question per scan. On the statistical robustness of each measurement, Meteoria is ahead and I am not going to claim otherwise.

In my view, the real deciding criterion in this middle band is not price but the format of the output. A dashboard serves the person who executes themselves. An exportable deliverable serves the person who has to convince a client or a management team to execute. Work out which one you are before comparing feature lists.

What none of the three will fix

Any score rests on an unstable phenomenon. A study published by SparkToro in January 2026 ran 12 identical prompts almost 3,000 times through ChatGPT, Claude and Google’s AI, using 600 volunteers. The odds of getting the same brand list twice came out below 1 in 100, and around 1 in 1,000 for the same order.

Rand Fishkin draws a conclusion that applies market-wide: any tool reporting a ranking position in AI is talking nonsense. What stays measurable is an appearance frequency aggregated across many runs. Caution therefore applies to any position metric, whoever the vendor.

Another shared point: if your brand appears nowhere, none of these tools will change anything. The problem is editorial, it gets solved with content and citations earned on third-party sources, over 3 to 8 weeks.

Which tool for which profile?

You are new to the subject. The Grader, no debate. Free, immediate, and it will tell you whether you have a perception problem or a presence problem.

Agency with a large portfolio. Meteoria. Unlimited projects and brands rule out every capped alternative, mine included.

E-commerce. Meteoria. Product carousel tracking does not exist elsewhere in this segment.

Steering at the individual prompt level. Meteoria. The 15 to 30 daily passes are exactly what makes that reading reliable.

Consultant with two or three clients, small business, freelancer. The middle band described above. Weekly tracking with a monthly deliverable covers that need without paying for unusable volume.

No budget and a single brand. The Grader once a quarter, paired with Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools for the traffic side. It is free and it works for a long time.

Frequently asked questions

Can the Grader replace a Meteoria subscription?

No, and it does not try to. HubSpot states that its diagnostic does not track every possible query and does not replace a continuous monitoring platform. The Grader tells you where you stand, not how it evolves.

Why does the Grader not ask for my website address?

Because it analyses what models know about your brand from its name, geography, industry and products. It therefore cannot tell you anything about pages blocked to AI crawlers or JavaScript-invisible content. For that you need a technical audit.

Do Meteoria and the Grader query the same models?

No. HubSpot documents GPT-5.2, Perplexity’s Sonar model and Gemini 2.0 Flash, a lightweight version. Meteoria drives the real interfaces and offers seven engines, three included per plan. The results are not comparable between the two.

What does Meteoria really cost depending on engine count?

The 75 EUR excl. VAT entry plan covers 25 prompts and three engines chosen from the seven advertised. Additional engines are billed on top. If your market requires Copilot or Grok beyond the classic trio, budget above the headline price.

Do these tools track Google AI Overviews?

Meteoria lists them among its available engines, provided you include them in your selection. The Grader does not cover them, it stops at the three conversational models documented by HubSpot.

Can you combine a free diagnostic with a tracking tool?

Yes, and it is the most rational combination. The Grader once a quarter for sentiment and positioning, a tracking tool for presence on your commercial queries. The free one costs nothing, there is no reason to skip it.

What should you do if your score is low everywhere?

Do not change tools, change content. A low score usually signals a lack of in-depth content and credible third-party sources talking about you. That is editorial work, and it shows results over 3 to 8 weeks.
