Key takeaways

  • Gemini is not included with Otterly. The four base engines are ChatGPT, AI Overviews, Perplexity and Copilot; Gemini, AI Mode and Claude are paid add-ons on all three plans.
  • Otterly has the lowest entry ticket on the market at $29, and the steepest step up: going from 15 to 100 prompts multiplies the bill by 6.5.
  • Cockpyt AI sits exactly on that step with 45 questions at 79 EUR excl. VAT, where Otterly requires $189 for 100 prompts.
  • On a single brand with 15 prompts, Otterly still offers the better coverage-to-price ratio, even after adding Gemini.

I co-founded Cockpyt AI. You are reading a comparison written by an interested party, and you are entitled to expect it to name the cases where Otterly wins. There are several, and the first concerns the entry tier, where many readers sit.

Otterly.AI is published by OtterlyAI GmbH, in Austria. It tracks brand mentions and URL citations across four engines, with daily measurement. Cockpyt AI measures three AI engines once a week, from France, and delivers a monthly audit. The two meet around 30 to 40 EUR a month, and the decision is made somewhere other than that figure.

Otterly or Cockpyt AI: which should you choose in 2026?

Choose Otterly if you track a single brand with 15 prompts, if AI Overviews and Copilot belong in your scope, or if you need an API, an MCP server and a Looker Studio connector.

Choose Cockpyt AI if you pass 15 questions without reaching 100, if you track two or three brands, or if you want a monthly audit delivered in French rather than a dashboard you exploit yourself.

Gemini is not one of the base engines

This is the point most readers discover after comparing headline prices.

The four engines included on all three Otterly plans are ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot. Google Gemini, Google AI Mode and Claude are sold as add-ons, on every plan, entry tier included.

Otterly documents this clearly on its pricing page, with a priced grid. The mismatch comes from elsewhere: the site’s footer banner presents the tool for ChatGPT, Gemini, AI Overviews, AI Mode, Perplexity and Copilot, six engines in one sentence, with nothing marking the three that cost extra. Nothing is concealed, and it is a packaging decision much of this market makes. But it changes the comparison you were making.

Add-on Lite, monthly Standard, monthly Premium, monthly Premium, annual
Google Gemini $9 $59 $149 $1,540
Google AI Mode $9 $59 $149 $1,540
Claude $29 $109 $439 $4,400

The striking figure sits bottom right. Tracking Claude for a year on the Premium plan costs $4,400, more than the full annual subscription of several competing platforms. On Lite, by contrast, adding Gemini costs $9 a month, which stays modest.

What Otterly does better than Cockpyt AI

Five gaps, and the first concerns precisely the entry tier where many readers sit.

Coverage at equivalent budget on one brand

Otterly Lite with the Gemini add-on comes to $38 a month for 15 prompts and five engines: ChatGPT, AI Overviews, Perplexity, Copilot and Gemini. Cockpyt AI Solo is 29 EUR excl. VAT for 15 questions and three AI engines. For a few euros more, Otterly covers two surfaces I do not track at all, including AI Overviews. On that specific case they are ahead, and I am not going to pretend otherwise.

The engines I do not offer at any price

Claude, Google AI Mode and AI Overviews are reachable with Otterly, with a surcharge for the first two. On my side they are not, whatever the plan. If your audience lives in Claude or Google traffic carries you, the question is settled.

The technical ecosystem

REST API, official MCP server, Looker Studio connector, analytics on AI agent activity, ChatGPT ads tracking. I have none of it. For an agency feeding dashboards automatically, the gap is structural.

Unlimited users

Every Otterly plan includes unlimited team members and unlimited brand reports. That is rare in a category that usually meters seats.

Free tools and social proof

AI prompt research, query fan out, GEO content check, crawler simulation: their free toolbox is substantial. And they display logos like Roche, Opera, Avis and SmartRecruiters, which I cannot match.

The step between 15 and 100 prompts

This is where the comparison tips, and it is the real subject of this article.

Otterly offers 15 prompts on Lite, then 100 on Standard. Nothing exists between them. The price goes from $29 to $189 a month, a factor of 6.5 in a single step. And Lite cannot buy extra prompts: the $99 pack of 100 only exists from Standard up.

A small business tracking two product ranges in one market passes 15 prompts fast. It then faces a binary choice: stay under-equipped, or pay 6.5 times more for volume it will not use.

Real need Otterly, monthly Cockpyt AI, monthly excl. VAT
15 questions, 1 brand $29 (Lite) 29 EUR (Solo)
30 questions, 1 brand $189 (Standard) 39 EUR (Solo + 1 pack)
45 questions, 3 brands $189 (Standard) 79 EUR (Consultant)
75 questions, 5 brands $189 (Standard) 139 EUR (Agency)
100 questions and above $189 (Standard) Not covered

A second tipping point, less visible: Otterly’s Lite plan gives only one workspace. Tracking a second brand therefore means moving to Standard, regardless of prompt count. Cockpyt AI opens 3 projects at 79 EUR excl. VAT and 5 at 139 EUR.

In my view, this step is the real design flaw in their grid, and it explains why so many comparisons conclude Otterly is the cheapest on the market. That is true at the first tier and false from the second. Count your real questions before looking at prices, otherwise you will compare tiers that do not match your need.

What Cockpyt AI offers in return

The GEO audit as a monthly deliverable. Once a month per project, on all three plans: technical site audit, 10 questions tested under several phrasings, AI traffic analysis, prioritised action plan and a 33-point checklist, exportable. Otterly delivers 3 recommendations a week on Lite, and a GEO URL audit with a monthly quota.

AI traffic tied to your own data. Clicks come through Google Analytics 4 and Search Console, displayed separately. Otterly offers agent analytics, but only from Standard up.

Hallucination detection. A wrong price, a discontinued service, a mix-up with a namesake.

The origin of each answer. My calls go through the official APIs with web search enabled. Models do not always use it and sometimes fall back on memory, so I flag on every recorded answer which of the two applied.

French. Interface, audit and support in French within 24 business hours. Otterly operates in English. For a consultant handing the audit to a French client, that counts more than people expect.

In my view, this is the only one of those five points that on its own justifies giving up two engines. An audit in English your client does not read is worth nothing, however good the measurement behind it. The other four arguments are case by case.

What neither of them fixes

A study published by SparkToro in January 2026 ran 12 identical prompts almost 3,000 times through 600 volunteers: the odds of getting the same brand list twice came out below 1 in 100, and around 1 in 1,000 for the same order. Any position metric, at Otterly as at Cockpyt AI, should be read with caution. Favour presence indicators aggregated over several weeks.

And if your brand appears nowhere, no subscription will change that. The problem is editorial and resolves over 3 to 8 weeks, through content and citations earned on third-party sources.

Which tool for which profile?

One brand, 15 prompts, tight budget. Otterly Lite, with the $9 Gemini add-on if Google matters to you. Five engines for $38, I do not do better.

You need Claude, AI Mode or AI Overviews. Otterly. I do not cover them.

Agency automating its reporting. Otterly from Standard up, for the API, MCP and Looker Studio.

Between 20 and 75 questions, one to five brands. Cockpyt AI. That is exactly the zone Otterly does not cover without imposing a $189 tier.

Consultant delivering a document to a French client. Cockpyt AI, for the exportable monthly audit and French support.

More than 100 prompts. Otterly Standard or Premium. Cockpyt AI caps at 75 questions.

Frequently asked questions

Does Otterly include Gemini in its subscription?

No. The four engines included on all plans are ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot. Gemini, Google AI Mode and Claude are paid add-ons, from $9 a month on Lite to $439 on Premium depending on the engine. Cockpyt AI includes Gemini on all three plans.

Does Otterly bill in euros or dollars?

Both, depending on your location according to their help centre. Add-on prices, however, are displayed in US dollars excluding tax on the pricing page. Check the actual amount in your account’s billing tab before committing.

Can you add prompts on Otterly’s Lite plan?

No. The $99 packs of 100 extra prompts are only available from Standard up. On Lite, passing 15 prompts means changing plan. Cockpyt AI sells packs of 15 questions at 5 EUR excl. VAT on all paid plans.

How many brands can you track with Otterly?

Lite gives one workspace. Standard and Premium offer unlimited workspaces, with unlimited brand reports on every plan. Tracking a second brand therefore means moving to Standard. Cockpyt AI opens 1, 3 or 5 projects depending on the plan.

Are both tools GDPR compliant?

Otterly is published by an Austrian company, so within the European Union. Cockpyt AI processes data in line with GDPR with European hosting. On this criterion, neither rules the other out.

Is a credit card required for the free trial?

No, with either. Otterly confirms no payment details are required to start the trial. Cockpyt AI offers 14 days with 1 project and 5 questions, no credit card.

What happens if you switch tools mid-course?

You lose your history, and that is true for any pair of tools. Calculation methods differ, so scores are not comparable. Export before cancelling, run both in parallel for a month on the same question set, and annotate the switch date in your reports.
