Key takeaways
- Hikoo offers a free plan, a 7-day trial with no credit card and a paid entry tier at €69 per month: half the comparison pages that brought you here quote $389 per month and no trial.
- Three engines carry 93.6% of global AI referral traffic according to SE Ranking: ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity. Paying for seven engines buys comfort, not measurement.
- The right comparison metric is monthly cost divided by the traffic coverage you actually obtain, not the entry price or the prompt count.
- Otterly.AI and Cockpyt AI deliver the best coverage-to-price ratio, Qwairy the widest engine coverage with no surcharge, Peec AI and Profound remain agency and enterprise choices.
Hikoo alternatives: the one-minute answer
Seven platforms replace Hikoo depending on your profile: Qwairy for maximum engine coverage, Otterly.AI for the lowest entry budget, Peec AI for European agencies, Profound for enterprise accounts, Cockpyt AI for small businesses and solo operators, Meteoria for teams already equipped on the content side, and the free native stack (Search Console, GA4, Bing Webmaster Tools) to test before investing.
The point that changes everything: Hikoo is not the overpriced tool most pages ranking on this query describe. I checked it on 3 August 2026 directly on its public pricing grid. Entry sits at €69 per month, €55 on annual billing, with a permanent free plan and a 7-day trial with no credit card. If you are looking for an alternative because someone quoted you $389 per month, you are looking for an alternative to a product that does not exist.

What are the best Hikoo alternatives in 2026?
Here are the six platforms that replace Hikoo on a comparable scope, with prices taken from official pages on 3 August 2026. Pricing in this category moves fast. Check it before you sign.
| Tool | Origin | Engines in the entry plan | Entry price | Trial | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hikoo (baseline) | France | 2 (ChatGPT, Gemini) | €69 / month | Free plan + 7 days, no card | SMEs, agencies |
| Qwairy | France | 10, on every plan | €79 / month | Free plan, 120 credits | SEO teams, agencies |
| Otterly.AI | Austria | 4 (ChatGPT, AI Overviews, Perplexity, Copilot) | $29 / month | Free trial, no card | Solo, small teams |
| Peec AI | Germany | 3 chosen from 6 | Around €85 / month | 7 days, no card | European agencies |
| Cockpyt AI | France | 3 (ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity), on every plan | €29 / month, annual billing | 14 days, no card | Small businesses, consultants, solo operators |
| Profound | United States | Broad coverage | On request | Sales demo | Enterprise accounts |
Meteoria rounds out the French landscape, with multi-LLM monitoring and query fan out analysis. Its pricing was not publicly listed at the time of writing, which makes a numerical comparison impossible at this stage.
Why half the comparison pages on Hikoo show the wrong price
Several pages ranking well on this query state that Hikoo starts at $389 per month, with no free plan and no trial. Hikoo’s public grid says otherwise: four tiers, including a permanent Free plan, Lite at €69 per month, Growth at €179 and Scale at €389. The 389 figure was picked up as the entry price when it corresponds to the top tier, and the currency slipped from euros to dollars along the way.
The source of the error is easy to trace. Programmatic comparison pages generated at scale copy a single value per tool, usually the highest plan, then get cited by others. The figure circulates without anyone going back to the source. Generative engines pick up those pages, and the error becomes an answer.
In my view, that is the real problem with the GEO market in 2026, and it goes well beyond Hikoo. A large share of AI visibility tool comparisons are produced by the vendors themselves, on their own blog, with a ranking where they come first. Hikoo publishes its own “Hikoo vs X” pages. Qwairy publishes its own 15-platform comparison page. None of that is dishonest as long as it is disclosed. It becomes dishonest when an incorrect figure about a competitor supports the verdict.
The practical takeaway is simple: before ruling out a tool on price, open its pricing page. Three minutes. That is what separates a purchase decision from a reflex.
The real selection criterion: what you pay per point of traffic covered
Engine count is this category’s number one sales argument. It says almost nothing about real value, because engines do not carry equal weight.
SE Ranking measured how referral traffic sent by AI engines to websites was distributed in 2026, across a panel of more than 100,000 sites. The result: ChatGPT captures 74.78% of that traffic, Gemini 11.56%, Perplexity 7.23%, Copilot 3.51% and Claude 2.62%. Three engines therefore cover 93.57% of AI referral traffic. The seventh engine in a €389 per month plan buys you tenths of a point.
Cross-referencing that distribution with the pricing grids produces a metric I have seen nowhere else on this query: monthly cost per point of AI traffic coverage.
| Plan | Referring engines covered | Share of AI referral traffic covered | Monthly price | Cost per coverage point |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cockpyt AI Solo (annual) | ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity | 93.6% | €29 | €0.31 |
| Otterly.AI Lite | ChatGPT, Perplexity, Copilot | 85.5% | $29 (around €27) | €0.32 |
| Qwairy Starter (annual) | All 5 referring engines | 99.7% | €65 | €0.65 |
| Hikoo Lite (annual) | ChatGPT, Gemini | 86.3% | €55 | €0.64 |
| Peec AI Starter | ChatGPT, Perplexity, one more | Around 82.0% | €85 | €1.04 |
| Hikoo Growth (annual) | ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot | 97.1% | €139 | €1.43 |
Two methodological limits, which I would rather state plainly. The SE Ranking shares are worldwide, not French: in France, Mistral and Le Chat weigh more than in this sample, without any reliable public measurement to quantify it today. And Google AI Overviews and AI Mode are not referral sources in the strict sense, since their traffic lands in Google organic: they are excluded from the calculation above even though they genuinely count towards your visibility.
This calculation is not an absolute ranking. It is a safeguard against the engine-count argument, which mechanically pushes you upmarket.
The six Hikoo alternatives in detail
Cockpyt AI — weekly tracking for smaller organisations
Cockpyt AI, which I co-founded with Laurent Séjourné, addresses a segment Hikoo largely leaves aside: small businesses, independents and solo operators who want reliable measurement without building an in-house GEO capability.
Tracking covers ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity on all three plans, with no per-engine add-on. The Cockpyt Score out of 100 combines presence, position within the answer, and presence of your contact details or URL. The competitor radar measures Share of Voice, the Sources page identifies the domains feeding the answers, the Query Fan Out page displays the generated sub-queries, and hallucination checking surfaces incorrect claims circulating about your brand. AI traffic is tracked through Google Analytics 4 and Search Console.
The grid has three plans, all carrying the same eight modules: Solo at €29 per month on annual billing, 1 project and 15 tracked questions. Consultant at €79, 3 projects and 45 questions. Agency at €139, 5 projects and 75 questions. Only the project count, question count and on-demand scan quota change between tiers. An extra scan costs €5, an extra GEO audit €19. A 14-day trial runs without a credit card, and the account moves to read-only at expiry rather than being cut off.
The substantive difference sits in the deliverable. Every month and per project, a full GEO audit combines a technical analysis of your site from an AI perspective, an in-depth study of 10 questions tested across several phrasings, an analysis of your AI-sourced traffic, then a prioritised action plan and a 33-point checklist. Consulting with me is included.
The stated limit is frequency: tracking runs weekly, where Hikoo, Otterly and Peec measure daily. The reasoning behind that choice is worth spelling out, because it also applies to you if you are hesitating over paying for daily data. Ask an AI the same question twice and the answers differ. Over 24 hours, that variability weighs more than the real movement in your visibility, which depends on published content and citations earned elsewhere. A weekly rhythm surfaces the trend, and on-demand scans cover the need for immediate measurement after a change.
Pick Cockpyt AI if you want to know where you stand and what to fix, without spending three hours a week inside a dashboard. The Consultant plan at €79 opens three projects, where Qwairy and Peec AI give you one at that price point.
Qwairy — the widest engine coverage with no surcharge
Qwairy is the most direct alternative to Hikoo for agencies and SEO teams. French vendor, European hosting, and one clear structural difference: all ten engines are included on every plan, entry tier included. ChatGPT, Perplexity, Copilot, Gemini, AI Overviews, Grok, Claude, Mistral, AI Mode and DeepSeek, with no per-engine add-on.
The grid: Starter at €79 per month (€65 annual) with 1,300 credits and 100 prompts, Growth at €199 (€165 annual) with 3,900 credits and 300 prompts, Business at €449 (€374 annual) with 10,400 credits and 800 prompts. A free plan with 120 credits allows testing without a card. The credit model takes some getting used to: one credit equals one analysed AI answer, a content brief consumes 50.
Pick Qwairy if you track several brands or markets and Hikoo’s engine restriction on lower tiers blocks you.
Otterly.AI — the lowest entry ticket on the market
Otterly.AI sells a Lite plan at $29 per month with 15 prompts and four base engines: ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot. Standard moves to $189 with 100 prompts, API access, the MCP server and the Looker Studio connector. Premium reaches $489 with 400 prompts.
The trap hides in the add-ons. Claude, Gemini and Google AI Mode are billed separately: $9 per month each for AI Mode and Gemini on Lite, $29 for Claude, rising to $149 and $439 respectively on Premium. A Standard plan configured with all three additional engines exceeds $400 per month. The $29 entry price remains genuine for single-brand use.
Pick Otterly.AI if you are starting solo and fifteen prompts cover your priority queries.
Peec AI — the European agency choice
Peec AI, based in Berlin, targets European agencies and in-house teams. Unlimited seats on every plan, European data residency, a clean interface, and an Actions feature that turns visibility gaps into prioritised tasks.
The structural constraint sits on engines: three models chosen across all self-serve plans, with the fourth becoming an add-on billed between €30 and €165 per month depending on tier. Prices sit around €85 for Starter, €205 for Pro and €425 for Advanced, with regional pricing that shifts the displayed amounts. A separate credit-based agency track starts around €205.
Pick Peec AI if you manage a client portfolio and seat count costs you dearly elsewhere.
Profound — the enterprise platform
Profound plays in a different league. AI traffic attribution down to revenue, analysis of how AI agents browse your site, extended engine coverage, and quote-based pricing that assumes a five-figure annual budget. No self-serve plan, no public price.
Pick Profound if your leadership expects revenue attribution and you have a team to work the data.
The free native stack — the starting point everyone skips
Three free sources already answer part of the question, and none requires a subscription. The Search Console generative AI features report exposes your impressions in Google’s AI surfaces. Google Analytics 4 identifies referral visits from ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini. Bing Webmaster Tools reports grounded queries and Copilot citations.
These sources measure post-click activity and exposure. They do not tell you whether your brand is cited in an answer where the user never clicks. That is exactly the gap paid tools fill, and the only valid justification for their cost.
Which Hikoo alternative fits your profile?
Four situations cover nearly every case I encounter.
- Independent or micro-business, budget under €50 per month. Otterly.AI Lite or Cockpyt AI Solo. The first if you already know what to do with the data, the second if you want a monthly action plan delivered alongside the measurement.
- SME with a marketing team. Hikoo Growth or Qwairy Starter. Hikoo if the prioritised action plan and the Battlemap appeal to you, Qwairy if you want every engine covered without trade-offs.
- Consultant or small agency, 3 to 5 clients. Cockpyt AI Consultant at €79 for three projects or Agency at €139 for five, if weekly tracking is enough. Peec AI if unlimited seats matter more than project count.
- Multi-client agency beyond five accounts. Peec AI for unlimited seats, Qwairy Growth for five workspaces and the API, Otterly Premium with Agency Partner status for the white-label kit.
- Enterprise with an attribution requirement. Profound, or an Enterprise plan at Qwairy or Hikoo.
In my view, prompt count is the question you should settle first, before price and before engines. Tracking 15 prompts for a single brand costs $29 at Otterly. The same tracking across three product lines, two countries and four personas reaches 100 prompts and multiplies the bill by six. Count your real prompts before looking at any grid, or you will compare tiers that do not match your need.
How to leave Hikoo without losing your measurement history
No GEO platform imports another one’s history. AI visibility data is proprietary, calculated with different methods, and a score of 62 at one vendor does not equal 62 at another. Switching tools always creates a break in your time series.
The method that limits the damage comes down to four steps.
- Export before you cancel. Pull your CSV exports and PDF reports while the subscription is still active. Once the account closes, access disappears.
- Run both tools in parallel for one month. That is the only way to establish a conversion factor between the two scores on your own prompt set.
- Replay the exact same prompt set. Changing tool and prompts at the same time makes any before-and-after comparison impossible.
- Document the switch date in your reporting. An annotation in Looker Studio or GA4 stops a methodology change being read as a performance drop.
That overlap month costs the price of two subscriptions. On entry plans at €30 or €70, it is a negligible expense compared with losing credibility over a reporting curve that breaks without explanation.
Frequently asked questions about Hikoo alternatives
Does Hikoo offer a free plan?
Yes. The Free plan covers 10 prompts, 50 AI answers per month on ChatGPT, 100 audited URLs and one article suggestion. Lite and Growth also include 7 days of full access with no credit card. Comparison pages claiming otherwise rely on an outdated pricing grid.
Is there a fully free Hikoo alternative?
No professional platform is. The free tiers at Hikoo, Qwairy and Mangools let you measure a first signal, with quotas that rule out serious long-term tracking. Search Console plus Google Analytics 4 plus Bing Webmaster Tools remains the only genuinely free option, on a different scope.
Which Hikoo alternative is hosted in Europe?
Qwairy, Peec AI, Cockpyt AI and Meteoria are built and hosted in Europe. Otterly.AI is Austrian. Profound is American. If your legal team requires European hosting, the list narrows to the first five.
Do you need a tool that tracks seven AI engines?
Rarely. Five engines represent nearly all measured AI referral traffic, and three already cover 93.6%. Additional engines mainly serve brand monitoring on niche audiences, or an internal reporting requirement.
How many prompts does an SME need to track?
Between 20 and 40 prompts generally cover a single-market business with two or three product lines. Multiply by the number of countries and by the number of decision-maker personas if your sales cycle involves several. Counting before comparing grids avoids paying for an oversized tier.
Can these tools track Google AI Overviews?
At Hikoo, AI Overviews and AI Mode are add-ons on every subscription. At Otterly.AI, AI Overviews is included in the four base engines while AI Mode is an add-on. Qwairy includes both on all plans. Check this if Google surfaces matter to you, because it is the most variable billing line across vendors.
Will switching tools lower my visibility score?
The score changes because the method changes, not because your visibility drops. Each vendor weights presence, position and URL citation differently, and queries the engines at its own frequency. One overlap month between the two subscriptions establishes the conversion factor.
