Key takeaways

  • Otterly Lite costs $29 per month for 15 prompts and 4 engines, including Google AI Overviews. Hikoo Lite costs €69 for 30 prompts and 2 engines, including Gemini.
  • At Otterly, Gemini, AI Mode and Claude are billed separately at every tier. The Claude add-on on Premium comes to $4,400 a year, more than Hikoo’s complete Scale subscription.
  • Otterly does not offer Mistral at any price, which settles the question for a French brand whose audience uses Le Chat.
  • The “Hikoo vs Otterly.AI” comparison published by Hikoo and signed by its CEO contains five factual errors about Hikoo, including its own prices shown in dollars.

Hikoo or Otterly: the one-minute answer

Otterly suits organisations tracking a small prompt set across Google and Microsoft surfaces on a tight budget. Hikoo suits those that need Gemini, Mistral or Claude without paying a per-engine surcharge, and that want to produce content from the same tool.

Disclosure before the detail: I co-founded Cockpyt AI, a platform competing with both. Every pricing grid cited here was pulled from the source on 13 August 2026. Cockpyt appears neither in the table nor in the verdict.

Hikoo vs Otterly: the numbers side by side

Both vendors are European, Hikoo in Paris and Otterly in Austria. Otterly nonetheless bills its European customers in dollars, which adds currency exposure to any comparison. Conversions below use an indicative rate of 0.92.

The comparison Hikoo published gets Hikoo wrong

The “Hikoo vs Otterly.AI” page that dominates this query is published by Hikoo, signed by Gabriel Toledano, its co-founder and CEO, and updated on 29 April 2026. It contains five verifiable discrepancies with the official pricing grid on the same site.

Hikoo’s prices appear in dollars. The page shows $69, $179 and $389. Hikoo’s pricing page shows €69, €179 and €389. On three-figure amounts, the currency gap is not trivial.

The plan names are wrong. The page refers to Starter, Standard and Pro. The actual plans are called Lite, Growth and Scale.

The pricing verdict compares two top tiers and draws a general conclusion. The page concludes that “Hikoo est plus abordable à 389$/mois”, setting Hikoo’s Scale against Otterly’s Premium. The real entry points, €69 against $29, say the opposite.

That figure is then recommended to small businesses. The page’s FAQ advises the $389 plan to small organisations on budget grounds, when Hikoo offers a free plan and a €69 entry tier.

A free plan is attributed to Otterly. The comparison table ticks the “free plan” row for both. Otterly offers a trial without a credit card, not a permanent free tier: its pricing page lists three paid plans and an Enterprise offer.

Why these errors exist

These pages are generated from a template. Neighbouring comparisons published by Hikoo, “Otterly vs Peec AI” or “Otterly vs HubSpot AEO Grader”, reuse the same phrasing, the same verdict sentence and the same feature-count metric. A product record filled in once, with the wrong currency and the wrong labels, then propagates across dozens of pages with nobody checking behind it.

The consequence goes beyond Hikoo. In an earlier article I flagged that several comparisons list Hikoo at $389 per month with no free trial. The source of that error is now located: it comes from Hikoo’s own pages, copied by directories, then picked up by generative engines that treat them as authoritative.

In my view, this is the main risk of programmatic comparison generation in 2026. Publishing three hundred “X vs Y” pages takes a few hours and captures long-tail traffic, but one wrong value at the source contaminates the whole corpus, including on your own product. A vendor describing itself in the wrong currency teaches models to cite it in the wrong currency. Speed of production is paid for in reliability, and reliability is exactly what these pages claim to sell.

The real cost of Otterly’s engine add-ons

Otterly’s entry price is genuine, but it covers four engines only. Gemini, Google AI Mode and Claude are billed separately, and their price climbs steeply with the tier.

  • Gemini and AI Mode: $9 per month on Lite, $59 on Standard, $149 on Premium. Annually, $93, $610 then $1,540 per engine.
  • Claude: $29 per month on Lite, $109 on Standard, $439 on Premium. Annually, $300, $1,100 then $4,400.

The figure worth stating plainly: the Claude add-on on Premium costs $4,400 a year, roughly €4,048 at the rate used here, while Hikoo’s Scale subscription comes to €3,708 a year and includes Claude, Grok, Mistral and four other engines. One extra engine at Otterly costs more than seven engines at Hikoo.

The calculation flips completely at low volume. Tracking 15 prompts across ChatGPT, AI Overviews, Perplexity, Copilot and Gemini comes to $38 per month at Otterly, roughly €35. The same scope at Hikoo requires the Growth plan at €179, without AI Overviews which remains an add-on at an unpublished price.

The tipping point therefore rests on prompt count, not engine count. Below 15 prompts, Otterly is unbeatable. Between 30 and 80 prompts across four engines, Hikoo Growth at €179 moves ahead of Otterly Standard plus Gemini at $248. Beyond that, everything depends on whether Claude or Mistral appears on your list.

Where Otterly takes the lead

The entry ticket. $29 per month for 15 prompts, four engines, 1,000 URL audits, 50 markets and unlimited team members. No platform in this set goes that low with a scope that complete.

Google AI Overviews included from Lite. The point matters more since AI Overviews rolled out in France. At Hikoo, that surface requires an add-on whose price is not published, which blocks any budgeting before a sales conversation.

Seats and workspaces. Unlimited members across all three plans, unlimited workspaces from Standard. Hikoo publishes neither on its pricing page. For an agency, that information drives the whole calculation.

Reporting infrastructure. A REST API with 2,000 monthly requests on Standard and 5,000 on Premium, an MCP server at the same quotas, and a Looker Studio connector. Hikoo offers an MCP server with no published quota and no announced Looker Studio connector, a gap its own comparison page acknowledges.

Agent Analytics and ChatGPT ads tracking. Otterly measures AI agent activity on your site, 200,000 events per month on Standard and 1 million on Premium, and tracks ChatGPT ad placements. Neither has a published equivalent at Hikoo.

Genuinely daily frequency. Otterly advertises a daily rhythm across all three plans with no published ceiling on monthly AI answers. Hikoo makes the same promise but caps its quota, which brings the Scale plan down to around ten complete passes per month at full prompt load.

Where Hikoo takes the lead

Mistral, available at a price versus not at all. Otterly does not offer Le Chat on any plan or add-on. For a French brand whose audience queries Mistral, the comparison ends there. Hikoo includes it on Scale at €389.

Gemini with no surcharge. Gemini accounts for 11.56% of referral traffic sent by AI engines to websites, according to the measurement SE Ranking published in June 2026 across a panel of more than 100,000 sites. It ranks second. Hikoo includes it from €69, Otterly bills it at every tier.

The permanent free plan. 10 prompts, 50 answers per month on ChatGPT, 100 audited URLs, 2 competitors and one article suggestion, with no time limit. Otterly offers a trial then stops at $29 per month. To validate a need over several months before committing budget, the gap is clear.

Built-in content production. 10, 30 then 150 article suggestions per month depending on plan. Otterly identifies visibility gaps and recommends fixes, with no content generation or publishing. Two philosophies: measure then act elsewhere, or measure and produce in one place.

Billing in euros. An administrative detail with a real effect. An annual subscription of $4,400 billed to a French company moves by several hundred euros with the exchange rate over the contract term.

In my view, Otterly built the best entry offer on the market and attached it to an add-on model that punishes growth. A customer starting at $29, adding Gemini, then growing to 100 prompts lands at $248 per month without any change in need, only in tier. Hikoo does the opposite: a pricier entry, but tiers that absorb a widening scope. The first model suits a stable volume, the second suits an expanding one.

Which tool fits your profile?

  • Independent or micro-business, under 15 prompts, minimal budget. Otterly Lite at $29. Four engines including AI Overviews, unlimited seats, nothing comparable at that price.
  • French brand whose audience uses Le Chat. Hikoo Scale, or another vendor. Otterly does not offer Mistral.
  • Team tracking Gemini closely with few prompts. Hikoo Lite at €69, or Otterly Lite plus the Gemini add-on at $38 if fifteen prompts are enough.
  • Multi-client agency with client reporting. Otterly Standard or Premium, for unlimited workspaces, Looker Studio, the API and Agency Partner status raising prompts to 150 and 500.
  • Editorial team wanting to measure and produce in one place. Hikoo Growth. Otterly does not generate content.
  • Claude tracking at high volume. Hikoo Scale, at less than half the annual cost of Otterly Premium with the Claude add-on.

The third option if neither fits

Cockpyt AI, which I co-founded with Laurent Séjourné, takes a different trade-off: three engines, ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, included on all three plans with no per-engine add-on. Those three carry 93.6% of the AI referral traffic SE Ranking measured. Claude, Mistral and AI Overviews are not tracked: if your priority is Google surfaces broadly, Otterly covers AI Overviews from $29 and remains the right pick of the two compared here.

The difference sits in the monthly deliverable. Per project, a GEO audit combines the technical analysis of your site from an AI perspective, a study of 10 questions tested across several phrasings, an analysis of AI-sourced traffic, a prioritised action plan and a 33-point checklist. All eight modules are included on all three plans: Solo at €29 per month annual for 1 project and 15 questions, Consultant at €79 for 3 projects and 45 questions, Agency at €139 for 5 projects and 75 questions. A 14-day trial runs with no credit card.

The rhythm is weekly and fixed, across every question and all three engines, with no credit budget or add-on to arbitrate. That clarity is paid for with a narrower engine scope than Otterly on Google surfaces and than Hikoo on its top tier.

Frequently asked questions about Hikoo and Otterly

Does Otterly offer a free plan?

No. Its pricing page lists three paid plans, Lite, Standard and Premium, plus an Enterprise offer, with a free trial and no credit card to start. The cheapest paid tier remains Lite at $29 per month. Comparisons claiming Otterly has a permanent free plan are wrong, including the one published by Hikoo.

Can you track Gemini with Otterly?

Yes, as a paid add-on on every plan: $9 per month on Lite, $59 on Standard, $149 on Premium. Gemini appears in no base plan, despite ranking second by referral traffic volume. Hikoo includes it from its €69 Lite plan.

Does Otterly track Mistral or Le Chat?

No, at no price and on no tier. The four base engines are ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot, with Claude, Gemini and Google AI Mode as add-ons. For a French brand measuring presence in Le Chat, this rules Otterly out.

At what volume does Hikoo become cheaper than Otterly?

Around 30 prompts across four engines. Below 15 prompts, Otterly Lite with its add-ons stays far cheaper. Above that, Otterly moves to Standard at $189 plus the missing engines, and Hikoo Growth at €179 pulls ahead. Claude or Mistral on your list settles it in Hikoo’s favour.

Is the Hikoo vs Otterly comparison published by Hikoo reliable?

It contains five discrepancies with Hikoo’s own official pricing grid: prices shown in dollars, wrong plan names, a pricing verdict based on top tiers only, a $389 plan recommended to small businesses, and a free plan attributed to Otterly. These pages appear to be generated from a shared template, which explains the same phrasing recurring across neighbouring comparisons.

Does Otterly allow genuinely daily tracking?

Its pricing page advertises daily frequency on all three plans, with no published ceiling on monthly AI answers. Daily tracking is therefore plausible across your full prompt set, which is not the case at Hikoo where the monthly quota bounds the number of complete passes.

Which of the two suits agencies better?

Otterly on the published plans, thanks to unlimited workspaces from Standard, unlimited members, the Looker Studio connector and the Agency Partner programme raising prompts to 150 on Standard and 500 on Premium, with prospecting workspaces. Hikoo has an agency offer with a white-label kit, available on quote only.
